We are now looking for a

Project Controls Expert (Planning and scheduling)

to be responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling and progress monitoring of the hydrogen infrastructure projects and participating in the development and improvement of procedures, tools, and best practices to improve efficiency in the project controls department.

Your role involves managing and collaborating with contractors and stakeholders ensuring that schedule and performance targets are met.

The Project Controls Expert will also act as Project Controls Manager for the large infrastructure projects, managing and integrating cost and schedule performance while challenging contractors to meet project schedule and budget expectations.

In this position, you will report to the Manager, Project Controls. Your office is located in Espoo.

Your main tasks:

  • Work closely with contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure the development and maintenance of a comprehensive project schedule that aligns with the project objectives. Regularly reviewing schedules to ensure accuracy and alignment with the owner project team.
  • Act as the project gatekeeper for schedule-related topics, ensuring that proposed revisions are justified, transparent, and in the best interest of the project.
  • Oversee and track project progress against the baseline schedule using critical path analysis and Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques.
  • Identify and escalate potential schedule delays, working with contractors and internal teams to develop mitigation strategies that protect the project timeline.
  • Lead schedule risk assessments, ensuring proactive management of risks and schedule-related contingencies.
  • Provide schedule performance reports, offering insights into project progress, potential delays, schedule variance, critical path issues, key milestones, and overall project health.
  • Understand basic project cost controlling tasks and coordinate with the cost control expert about the budget matters in the project.

What experience do we value?

  • 7+ years of experience in project planning and scheduling, within large-scale infrastructure or oil & gas projects
  • Expertise in creating and maintaining master project schedules based on industry standards, baseline management, EVM methodology and forecasting, development of procedures, guidelines and progress reporting tools
  • Working experience with EPCM contractors and internal stakeholders in multidisciplinary projects
  • Capability to analyze complex data, providing insights and recommendations for improving project outcomes
  • Proactive approach to identifying risks to protect project interests
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, capable of maintaining alignment between internal teams, contractors, and management
  • Bachelor’s / master’s degree in a related field
  • Advanced knowledge in Primavera P6 and Excel
  • Fluency in English, Finnish is seen as an advantage
  • MS Project and Power BI knowledge are seen as an advantage
  • Software integrations knowledge is seen as an advantage

The position involves a task referred to in the Security Clearance Act (726/2014), which is why an approved certificate/statement on security clearance is one of the conditions for filling the position. The selected person will undergo a health check, which includes a drug test.
