The main goal for the position
The goal is to lead and develop the operations of a newly established chemical plastic recycling plant, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production performance. The role includes overseeing plant operators, production planning, and daily operations while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and cost standards. Collaboration with the Laboratory Manager and other stakeholders is key to optimizing feedstock and product performance. A continuous improvement mindset is essential to enhance productivity, operational reliability, and overall plant performance.
Your main responsibilities
- Manage and develop production operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance.
- Lead and support plant operators in running daily chemical plastic recycling processes.
- Ensure production targets are met safely, on schedule, and in line with quality and cost requirements.
- Oversee shift planning, operator training, and daily operational troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate production and performance records to support compliance and continuous improvement.
- Participate in commissioning, start-up, and risk assessments.
- Act as the designated responsible person for chemical handling and safety in accordance with applicable Finnish chemical safety regulations.
- Continuously develop your expertise and apply lessons learned.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance process design.
Qualifications:
- Education: M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering is strongly preferred. Degrees in Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Management, or other relevant technical fields may also be considered, provided the candidate demonstrates solid expertise in chemical processes.
- Experience: Strong hands-on experience in process engineering within an industrial plant environment, preferably including commissioning and start-up. Proven expertise in chemical process operations and process safety is essential. Additional industrial experience and demonstrated professional competence are considered a strong advantage.
- Mandatory Language Skills: Fluency in Finnish and English. The main working language is Finnish.

- Leadership: Strong leadership and people management skills with proven experience in supervising industrial operations, including production scheduling and shift management
- Problem-Solving & Analysis: Ability to identify and resolve production issues, determine root causes, and develop effective solutions.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. The ability to effectively interact with colleagues and stakeholders is essential.
- Learning: You are comfortable and skilled at learning and using new software and technologies.
