We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our innovative team responsible of the product development of superconducting quantum computers.

In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, developing, and documenting mechanical parts and components for our growing range of products. You will work closely with experts across various fields and collaborate with different teams to bring production-ready products to market.

What will I be doing?

  • Mechanical Design & Development: Design, develop, and document mechanical components and systems, including system layout, framing, mounting, cable routing, and cryogenics.
  • Modelling & Analysis: Utilize CAD software (Autodesk Inventor) and related tools (Vault) for modelling new parts as well as integrating third-party components.
  • Collaborative Engineering: Work closely with the design team on specific design aspects such as cryogenics, vacuum, and microwave technologies to ensure robust and innovative solutions.
  • Design Review & Communication: Lead design review sessions, communicate engineering options clearly, and engage in specific communication with manufacturers and suppliers as needed.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation including production drawings, assembly instructions, component datasheets, and compliance documents. Ensure all mechanical aspects are well-documented for warehousing, logistics, and regulatory compliance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Prepare and manage regulatory compliance documentation for mechanical aspects of the products.

What skills do I need?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in designing and developing industrial or commercial products.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design in electrical systems, preferably within industrial R&D.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Vault or similar CAD software.
  • Experience in cryogenics, vacuum, microwave, and vibration reduction technologies is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent documentation skills, with experience in preparing documentation for production and regulatory compliance.
