We are looking for an experienced Environmental and Sustainability Manager with special focus on climate management to our Global EHSQ organization.

In this role you will take responsibility for managing, developing, implementing and executing wide range of environmental activities. Your main focus area would be to develop and coordinate Climate related actions and lead Kemira’s Climate Action program on Global level. You will be the subject matter expert in this area, supporting Kemira’s sustainability transformation strategy. This position is based in Finland. 

Main accountabilities:

  • Opportunities to influence Kemira business strategies for growth and new market opportunities
  • Develop Kemira’s Global approach to Climate management and lead Kemira’s Climate Action program.
  • Environmental data collection from Kemira sites and data management and analysis with focus on Climate
  • Close collaboration with relevant Kemira functions and segments including e.g. manufacturing, energy manager, sourcing, product lines and R&D
  • Reporting including participation in Kemira’s annual sustainability reporting (Climate chapter in accordance with CSRD, CDP Climate and Ecovadis)
  • Sustain Kemira’s ISO 14001 certification
  • As a member of Global EHSQ team you will support the team in environmental management development and execution

What you will bring to the team:

  • Minimum Masters level university degree preferably in environmental sciences, chemistry, engineering, biology or other applicable field along with strong technical and commercial understanding 
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in chemical industry or other process industry or consultancy of these industries.
  • Proven strong experience in Climate and energy management including knowledge and implementation of Climate related frameworks (including GHG Protocol, Science Based Targets, etc.) and regulations (example European Climate Law, ETS, EU Taxonomy, etc.) and good understanding on coming regulations, forthcoming industry expectations and frameworks
  • Experience in mandatory  and voluntary Sustainability reporting frameworks like GRI, CSRD, CDP and EcoVadis
  • Data analysis skills using sustainability software (like Sphera SCCS) or other BI tools
  • Experience in ISO 14001 EMS management
  • Experience in projects climate related ESG evaluations associated with M&As and investments
  • Additional skills in any other environmental area (like water, circularity, biodiversity) are good additional competences
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently
  • Problem solving skills and eye for detail
  • Strong proven performance in project management in matrix organization
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English (written and spoken), other language skills are beneficial
  • Flexibility to travel – approximately 10-20%

This role reports to VP, EHSQ and will be in Kemira locations in the EU, preferably in our headquarters in Helsinki. You will have the flexibility to organize your work between office and remote, in a hybrid work culture.
