What is the role, and who would you be working with?

As Head of Finance & Business Control, you’ll take the lead in building Valo Motion’s financial infrastructure – from tools and reporting to strategic modeling. Your role is both strategic and hands-on: you’ll turn business goals into financial plans, challenge assumptions, and make sure data guides decisions across the company.

You’ll work closely with our CEO, leadership team, sales, production, customer success, and product development, and external financial and accounting partners. Currently we have a Senior Finance Manager who handles operational finance tasks, budgets, and month-end routines. You’ll be the financial sparring partner for the whole business, helping teams make smart, data-driven decisions and preparing the company for what’s ahead.

This is also a growth role. You’ll have the chance to:

Your key responsibilities

Lead development of financial models for product/customer profitability, lifecycle value, and growth
Provide financial analysis to support investment, pricing, and product decisions
Act as a sparring partner across teams, bringing financial clarity into everyday decisions and long-term goals
Translate strategy into numbers: insights, forecasts, risks, and opportunity modeling
Improve and develop reporting tools that serve all business units
Manage cash flow, currency mix, liquidity, and investments
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and collaboration with external accounting
Deliver clear financial reports and insights for leadership
Monitor risks and ensure well-informed decisions across all key areas

Critical know-how that you’ll need to succeed in this role

✅ 5+ years of experience in business control, financial planning, and analysis as a Senior Controller, Head of Finance, or CFO – gained from one or several companies representing diverse business models such as manufacturing, technology, hardware, or SaaS.

✅ You have a strong understanding of financial administration practices and statutory requirements in Finland.

✅ A drive to lead financial processes end-to-end – from budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to profitability analysis – while building and leading the finance team into a high-performing, business-oriented function.

✅ Proven track record of supporting leadership with financial tools, analysis models, and insights to support data-driven decision-making.

✅ Ability to build financial processes from scratch in a growing company.

✅ Excellent skills in financial modeling, Excel, and BI tools like Power BI or Looker.

✅ You bring an accountable mindset, strong business acumen, and an action-oriented approach – and thrive in a growth-phase company where you can spot opportunities, solve problems, and achieve goals that drive the business forward.

✅ Strong collaboration skills: you’re a business partner to sales, production, product development, customer success, and leadership teams, helping them make informed decisions.

✅ Fluent English (Finnish is a plus)
