The Wind and Solar Engineering&Technology-tribe (E&T) takes responsibility for the engineering of all solar and wind projects at Fortum and acts as the technical centre of excellence supporting project development, construction and operations.
As one of the three teams in the E&T-tribe, the Engineering team is fundamental in providing engineering solutions for all utility-scale solar, wind and hybrid projects, together with the colleagues from other teams. Our team is the engineering heart of Fortum’s wind and solar projects – driving innovation and excellence in every aspect of our work.
About the role
The purpose of the role is to lead the wind and solar Engineering team at Fortum. Today, the team consists of ten industry-leading and highly motivated talents. The team will in the future continue to grow.
The main responsibility areas of the role include:

Wind, solar PV, civil, EPCs, BESS and Grid disciplines center of excellence for our wind and solar business unit through full project value chain.

Engineering and technical specification of all solar PV, wind and hybrid projects.

Techno-economic optimization and continuous competitive technical value-added implementations for our projects.

Center of excellence for engineering and quality assurance from EPC, wind, solar and BESS procured goods supervision.

Wind, Solar PV, BESS, EPC, BOS and BOP supplier’s technology assessments and partnering evaluation, technical contracts negotiations and selection supervision.

Active co-operation with industry partners RDI and technology teams.

Developing and managing the Engineering team’s short-term and long-term strategies, setting its KPIs, budget and growth forecast.

Act as M&A Technical Due Diligences technical support.
The primary location of the position is in our office in Espoo, Finland or in Solna, Sweden. This role will be reporting to the Director Engineering and Technology and is a member of the Engineering and technology department leadership team.

You are passionate about renewable energy and the energy transition. You have extensive experience in leading renewable energy projects and teams – with a focus on utility-scale wind, solar-PV and BESS. You have a strong wind and solar commercial and technical understanding. Fluent skills in English is a must, while additional language skills are highly valued (especially Finnish, Swedish or Norwegian).
For this role, you need to be able and willing to travel in the Nordics and internationally.
