Intern – Data Engineer / Product Owner for Learning Platform, Factorise-Solutions – Kolding


About Us:

Factorise is a pre-seed stage AI Fintech startup.

We are an innovative fintech startup on a mission to democratize investment knowledge and tools through our AI-powered chatbot, learning platform, and interactive community. We blend cutting-edge technology with deep industry insights to empower investors of all levels. You will primarily work on our learning platform focused on delivering comprehensive financial education through a multidisciplinary cross silo approach. Our mission is to equip learners with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of the financial world. One of our features is leveraging insights from various fields such as physics, biology, sociology, and more. This means enabling the user to acces mental models and knowledge across disciplines with the purpose of upgrading investment strategies, learning and action.

Our Progress:

We have achieved significant milestones, including our chatbot is live for internal test use and demo investor purpose both locally through Docker and in a cloud solution. We’ve built an AWS cloud setup with the following components: Backend: NestJS microservices on AWS Fargate. Frontend: Next.js on AWS Amplify. Message Broker: RabbitMQ on Amazon MQ. Database: MongoDB.  API Gateway: AWS API Gateway. Our ML/AI is integrated both in the cloud and locally same as our RAG system. We’ve enriched our chatbot capabilities and carried out comprehensive API development. Our product designs are complete for some aspects and being further developed on other features, and we are conducting innovative R&D to transform investment knowledge. We’ve engaged in extensive user research, userbility testing, competitor analysis, product positioning and built a strong and motivated team, and established early industry partnerships. We have a demand driven approach to preProduct-Market-Fit (pre-PMF) phase. We have investor meetings scheduled and are currently updating business and project management documentation in addition to integration of core product features. 

As we are now ramping up our product development for the learning platform we need a dedicated engineer and product owner intern to help with both data aquisition and product development.

Key Responsibilities:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented person. This role will involve working closely with our CEO and engineering team to help define and develop an investment education product that is built on a novel approach and tech.

Data Acquisition and Integration:

  • Source and acquire data from various repositories, databases, APIs, and web sources.

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines to ensure smooth extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data into our storage solutions.

  • Implement data compliant techniques and collaborations to gather data where APIs are unavailable, ensuring data is clean, structured, and ready for use.

Product Development Support:

  • Collaborate with the CEO to define the product’s data structure and how collected data and knowledge will be organized within the learning platform.

  • Assist in developing new models and strategies for financial learning, incorporating principles from various disciplines such as physics, biology, sociology, and more.

  • Work with the engineering team to ensure that the data infrastructure supports the platform’s learning models and content delivery.

Documentation and Communication:

  • Document the data acquisition processes and the integration methods used to ensure replicability and scalability.

  • Communicate effectively with the team to ensure that data needs and product requirements are clearly understood and met.

Technical Innovation:

  •  Explore and implement innovative data solutions that align with the CEO’s vision for new ways of learning, prediction, and strategizing in financial education.

  • Contribute to the design of data-driven tools and models that enhance the user learning experience.

 

Qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, Financial Modeling, Data Engineering, or a related field.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, SQL, or R.

  • Familiarity with ETL tools and processes, and experience in data aquisition

  • Knowledge of APIs, data integration techniques, and working with SQL/NoSQL databases.

  • Understanding of data warehousing and cloud-based data storage solutions (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Using reasoning from first principles – we will teach you this approach to problem solving

  • Understanding of financial models and principles, even if you lack direct finance experience.

  • Exposure to machine learning models or algorithms is a plus.

  • Ability to handle large datasets and work with unstructured data.

The job is unpaid and without equity for now, but when we get funded, you will have a chance to apply and negotiate for a paid position. You will need to sign an NDA. 

We will make the contract for 3-6 months with a 14-day trial period. Hours a week will depend upon individual agreement, but there will be a lower limit, for you to be able to deliver the results needed.
