Services Business Line offers sustainable services for Pulp, Board and Paper, Tissue and Energy customers. Pulp and Energy Solutions Business Unit is committed to help our customers to improve the asset reliability and production performance trough Expert Field Services, Improvement Projects and Agreements.

The Business Unit governs the global business, develops new products and solutions as well as delivers provides engineering and process expertise in delivery projects with Areas. The area organizations are leading the sales and execution with sales professionals, field service experts and project managers. As a Director, Global Engineering Operations, you will lead and drive the engineering disciplines within the BU for delivery and development projects, supporting the R&D funnel. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Drive and further develop the BU’s engineering footprint according to the BUs strategic plan, ensuring capacity is dimensioned in line with current needs and strategic targets.

  • Upkeep the capacity across engineering disciplines (Machine Design, E&I / Machine automation, Pressure Part & Equipment, Plant Engineering) for daily activities.    

  • Lead engineering resources globally in co-operation with Area and Capital stakeholders to ensure resourcing in current delivery and development projects as well as in future business needs.  

  • Develop the operational model for resource management to improve the flexibility of using resources globally in own or capital teams or with external partners.

  • Develop and ensure competence development and skill mapping across the engineering disciplines.

  • Streamline and develop the engineering working processes with sales and delivery process owners to develop the Global Management System processes.

  • Govern, develop and streamline the utilization of global engineering tools, to ensure and facilitate the global coordination and collaboration.

In this role, you will lead and have the responsibility for a team of engineering discipline managers, who are in turn responsible for local engineering teams. In addition to sales and delivery projects the, engineering teams are responsible for supporting and being part of:

  • The business unit’s R&D portfolio with the Technology Unit heads and R&D managers

  • Engineering support activities for Procurement and Category Management to ensure supply chain development

  • Product management and development with global product portfolio managers

You are used to working in a matrix organization and understand the need of stakeholder alignment and preparations to ensure smooth implementation of changes. As a manager, you work close to your team. You are used to leading a team through distributing tasks and responsibilities, target setting and regular follow-up. You are a visible leader in your organization and towards internal stakeholders.

In this role, you are part of the Pulp & Energy Solutions Management Team and will report the Business Unit head.

Requirements:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Design, Chemical, Process Engineering or equivalent engineering education

  • Experience of working with several engineering disciplines in pulp and energy sales and delivery projects

  • Solid understanding of the pulp and energy industries and business processes

  • Business acumen and ability to achieve results under pressure 

  • Ability to succeed in international matrix environment

  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English along with presentation and analytical skills.

  • Willingness and ability to travel on an international basis.
